First step, confirm the walk-in freezer target temperature and the required cooling capacity. The walk-in freezer target temperature is a key factory when selecting a low-temperature condensing unit. If the freezer cold room target temperature is -18°C, the DD series evaporator with a fin space of 6mm is suitable. If the target temperature for the cold storage unit is -25°C, it is recommended to select a DJ series evaporator with a fin spacing of 9 mm.
There are two main defrost methods, electric heater defrost and hot gas defrost. These two defrost methods commonly used in walk-in freezer. Because walk-in freezer has a lower room temperature, so it is easier to accumulate frost during normal operation. The excessive frost restricts airflow and reduces heat transfer. Now most of the walk-in cooler walk-in freezer still adopt electric heater defrost evaporator, with defrost cycle to 4 hours and last for 20~30 minutes each time. Hot-gas defrosting is initiated based on actual frost accumulation; if there is no frost on the evaporator, the defrost cycle will not be triggered. Due to its high efficiency, the defrosting time is also shorter than that of an electric heater.
The condensing unit and evaporator must be matched. Big condensing unit with small evaporator or small condensing unit with big evaporator are not good for the walk-in freezer.
