What are Cam Lock Cold Room Panels?

According to the different production processes, the insulation panels for cold rooms can be divided into handmade panels and machine-made panels. The handmade panels are also called cam lock cold room panels. The cam lock panel system is composed of two parts, one is the cold storage panel with “cam hooks”, the other is a cold storage panel with “lock rods”. Then two panels are connect by the “cam hooks” and “lock rods”, also called cam lock. The cam lock panel system mount has the advantage of easy installation.

Because the cam lock panel mount is easy and quick , it reduces the installation time and installation cost greatly. It widely used in walk in cooler, walk in freezer, small and medium size cold rooms and freezer rooms.

What are Cold Room Panel Made of?

The refrigeration cold room panels are made of the polyurethane and the surface material. The interior material of the panel is polyurethane foam, so it is also called polyurethane cold room panel or PU cold room panel. The surface material is composed of color steel plate, stainless steel plate or embossed aluminum plate. It likes a sandwich, so it is also called cold room sandwich panel. The polyurethane has the best thermal insulation performance of all insulation materials, and it is a flame-retardant and self-extinguishing material, so the polyurethane sandwich panels are widely used in cold rooms and freezer room.

The Production Process of Cam Lock Cold Room Panels

Sheet Metal Processing. Cut, press and fold the surface material (color steel plate, stainless steel plate, embossed aluminum plate) according to the required length.
Putting into the mold: Put one piece of processed sheet metal plate into the mold.
Put in the hook in, put in the support material, cover with the other steel metal plate (the other side of the cold room sandwich panel), lock the mold and press tightly.
Foaming. Insert the foaming into the mold for foaming.
Open the mold and take out the panel. After 60 minutes, open the mold and take out the polyurethane sandwich panel.
Punch the cam lock hole, and clean the excess foaming on the panel.

Cold Room Panel Thickness

The insulated cold room panels have different thickness, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm 120mm, 150mm and 200mm. The cold room panel thickness is a key point affecting its thermal insulation performance. Generally speaking, the thicker the insulated cold room panels, the better the thermal insulation performance, the higher the price. So we need to select the thickness according to the cold room temperature.

High temperature cold storage: temperature at -5℃, using 100mm polyurethane panel
Medium temperature cold storage: temperature at -18℃, using 100mm or 120mm polyurethane panel
Low temperature cold storage: temperature at -25℃, using 120mm or 150mm polyurethane panel
Quick freezing cold storage: temperature below -25℃, using 200mm polyurethane panel

Cold Room Panel Surface Material

The surface of the polyurethane panels are generally made of high-strength color steel, stainless steel, embossed stainless steel, embossed aluminum and anti slip aluminum plate. These materials have the advantages of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high strength, and beautiful appearance. They can effectively protect the polyurethane insulation material and extend the service life of the cold storage panels.

Color steel plates: The color steel plate with advanced coating technology provides excellent corrosion protection. It has the advantages of good corrosion resistance, easy processing and forming, high strength and low cost. So it is widely used as surface material of polyurethane panels. The thickness of the color steel plate, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.6mm and so on. Now most of the polyurethane sandwich panels adopts double side 0.5mm color steel. Stainless Steel Plates: The stainless steel polyurethane panel is made of 304 stainless steel surface material. The stainless steel cold storage panels have higher corrosion resistance than color steel plate. It also has a beautiful appearance and is suitable for industries such as hotels, restaurants and so on. Generally our customers make the inner side 0.6mm stainless steel plate outer side 0.5mm color steel cold room puf panel or double side 0.6mm stainless steel pu panel for cold room.
Anti Slip Aluminum Plates: The embossed aluminum plate has good corrosion resistance. The pattern on the surface of the embossed aluminum plate plays an anti-slip role, reducing the incidence of slips and accidents during the operation of the cold storage.
